Dink Da Hustla

“I try to make people understand who I am, what I’m about, and where I come from. Music is emotion. Simple as that.” ~ Byron McGloster

Byron McGloster, better known as Dink Da Hustla, was born in Port Gibson, Mississippi on January 6, 1986. Port Gibson is a small southern town that is full of its hardship and history.

Port Gibson is like no other city. It has its beautiful aspects, such as the Magnolia trees that run down Church Street and the historical background of being the “City too beautiful to Burn” during the times of the Civil War.

Even now, a century and a half after the Civil War, Port Gibson is still sees its share of violence and tragedy. Dink grew up on the Westside of the town known as “P.G.” — where the sound of gunfire is normal and the possibility that anything could happen — at any moment — remains.

To Byron ”Dink“ McGloster, creating music is therapy – an escape from the violence he’s witnessed. “Venting through music is a breath of fresh air.” said Dink. He believes in putting his heart-felt energy in his lyrical mind set. “It beats picking up a gun, drinking, or smoking any day, he said.

“Creating music is my ultimate high, this is my stress relief. Music is my friend I can lean on. It’s like painting a picture with words. I am painting my heart in a way that other minds sometimes can’t translate,” says Dink. “I try to make people understand who I am, what I’m about, and where I come from. Music is emotion. Simple as that.”
